my thoughts and ideas. you might think i'm crazy, but i probably am. :P so if you agree with or have thought about any of my musings, we should probably talk

So what's with the name??

I read about a psychology study about "brainwaves" in the mind; researchers theorized that recording brainwaves and playing them back to the patient and soundwaves can be used as relaxing therapy because the waves are synchronized. This reminded me of the idea that babies fall asleep better when listening to the sound of a heart beating. Everything in nature seems to have a resonant frequency.

I personally have yet to hear a music more transcendent than trance, and I theorize that this is because our minds consist of electronic signals, and the phenomenon that is electronic music sends soundwaves into our minds that resonates with our inner brainwaves (or those of us weird enough to have that sort of brainwave), thus catapulting us into elevated states of consciousness.
The mind is made of electronic signals, trance is your mind's electronic heartbeat

Everyone's a raver

So what do the following have in common?

Lights controlled in a manner similar to martial arts, especially tai chi, evokes the image of manipulating chi (or chakra if you're an anime fan). It is also a dance form known as "glowsticking." I'm not sure what it's called, but the figure-8 motion that is the basis of glowsticking movements, is also a symbolic gesture in Hinduism, having to do with blossoming.
Raves have been compared to ancient tribal drum ceremonies, where people dance in the darkness or around the light of a fire to repetitive drum beats that propel dancers into a state of elevated and ecstatic consciousness. The urge to let go through trance and dancing, as well as bringing forth light in the dark, has been around for millennia then. So raves actually aren't anything new.

What is a flower??

I once attended a lecture about decoding a Buddhist sutra called the Heart Sutra. At least to my understanding, the Heart Sutra is basically saying "nothing is real." Our teacher asks, "What is a flower? We define a flower as a flower because it is not a table; it doesn't have the shape, color, or feel of a table. Thus, all that we define and think as real are only relative comparisons to each other. There is no absolute "flower", thus nothing is real"
As humans we can only perceive so much, and define what we are able to perceive against each other to shape our reality. Physicists speculate the existence of 9, 11, or even more dimensions. I think that if we were to perceive a flower in its "absolute", we'd have to be able to perceive it in all possible dimensions, compared against other objects in all possible dimensions. One of these dimensions would include time, the past, present, and future of the flower. Thus, in order to see truth, we'd be looking into infinity.
Then again, there is the notion that everything in this universe is one and the same, so nothing is as we perceive because everything is one and the same.

Oscillating States

Once in a fit of craziness I drew a graph in my journal, with time on the x axis and dimensions on the y axis. I guessed that we are always oscillating between 2 states. Right now, we are oscillating between the 3rd and 4th dimension; awake, we are conscious of 3 dimensions. When we dream, we venture into the 4th dimension. At the beginning of time, we existed in 1 and 2D, and then we jumped up to 2 and 3, etc, in a continual evolution of consciousness. Because I'm fascinated with apocalypses, whether or not they're real, I guessed that in 2012 we will gain consciousness of the 4th dimension and dream in 5D. The graph can be likened to electrons oscillating in their default or ground level valence shell until they gain enough energy to jump to the next outer level. Even our evolution of existence (if consciousness counts as existence) can be likened to something as measley as electrons. As the Buddhists say, there are an infinite number of universes, embedded within one another.
My friend said I sounded like an insane person when I described this to her. :)
