Wow, it's been at least a year. Got looots of housecleaning to do, including formally registering copyrights for all my images. I appreciate all of you who've alerted me to instances of people using my work without permission.

The game I produced last semester is up!

So this is my last year at USC, and I expected to fully live a double life: finishing my degree as a Systems Engineer, while also developing myself as a game designer. With any skills I manage to pick up from either life being mutually exclusive.

Interestingly, the synthesis that I've always been looking for is starting to become a bit more clear. In addition to taking game design courses and working independently on side projects, some of my engineering courses involve systems analysis and design, and human-computer interface design. And the key word here is "systems", because a successful game designer is basically a "systems thinker", designing innovative closed systems. There's some hope for me after all. It's so refreshing to actually take classes that teach you how to think.

Not too surprised. After all, the curriculum is set up such that all the important and remotely useful classes with tangible projects and deliverables come at the end of your college career, either during or AFTER recruiting season.

Now THAT's what I call great design.

This past weekend was the Long Beach World Cup Dragonboating tournament. I rowed with the high school team I founded back in the day for old time's sake. They rowed really well this year, I'm proud of how far they've come, and how they continue to do so well :)

OKOK, first off, EDC!!! I know it's really late, but just have to put it up there. It was the biggest group I've ever been a part of, that night was an INCREDIBLE journey! In addition to the 20-something people that was part of our original extended group, there were another 30-something people from glowsticking.com, and we all came together at the ultracircle. New friends from all over the US, and old acquaintances meeting each other in person for the first time after years of web correspondence. :) I'm so glad I got to share this experience with all of you!

This past weekend we went to Armin @ Giant Village!!!

Amazing set; we chilled half the time in the house room with 16 bit lolitas and Desyn Masiello. Good times :D
